Cheap eats near the hotel
Pizza Luce
Great Minnesota pizza joint for both creative specialty pizzas and standard cheese'n'pepperoni. And they deliver!
Panera
A cheap breakfast or lunch option a few blocks away at 809 Nicollet Mall.
Chipotle
Mexican chain located on Nicollet Mall and 10th Street. Closed on Sunday.
Jimmy John's
Sub sandwich chain located on Marquette Avenue and 9th Street. Eat in or order delivery! Closed on Sunday.
Note: Many of downtown Minneapolis's fast food chains and deli-style options are located on the skyway level of office buildings, not street level. It's how folks who work downtown stay warm in the winter! The skyways are fun to explore, but not always easy to navigate. Adventurers take note: blue overhead signs and this map can help. Also, because they cater to the downtown worker crowd, many of the fast food and deli-type options have limited weekend hours.
Other downtown food/drink recommendations
Origami Sushi
We love sushi! We've spent many date nights here. It's a walkable seven blocks to 30 North First Street if you're wearing comfortable shoes.
The Local
The Local is an Irish pub on Nicollet Mall and 10th Street with good food and good drinks. Try the Big Ginger--it's our favorite drink!
The Crooked Pint
The Crooked Pint is a few blocks away at the corner of 5th Avenue South and Washington Avenue. It's got a huge beer list and features live music every weekend.
Keys Cafe
A great place for an omelette-and-hashbrowns kind of brunch! Located near the corner of 2nd Avenue South and 9th Street.
Hell's Kitchen
This is your brunch choice if you like to get a Bloody Mary with your eggs. "Damn good food!" You'll likely find the brides brunching here on Sunday.
Things to see and do in the Twin Cities
Minnehaha Falls
One of the most scenic areas in the Twin Cities, and just a few blocks away from our home!
Guthrie Theater
You may not have time to take in a world-class play while you're in town, but you can wander through this architectural treasure and take in breathtaking views of the Mississippi River from its "Endless Bridge" for free!
Stone Arch Bridge
This Minneapolis icon is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Mississippi River and gives great views of downtown Minneapolis, St. Anthony Falls, and the nearby lock and dam.
Mill City Farmer's Market
This farmer's market pops up next to the Guthrie Theater every Saturday and is where local residents and chefs pick up fresh, locally grown produce.
Nicollet Mall
Nicollet Mall is the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Highlights include the famous Mary Tyler Moore statue, lots of restaurants and bars, and the flagship two-story Target store, next door to Target's world headquarters.
Minneapolis Institute of Arts
Free admission every day!
Walker Art Center & Sculpture Garden
A museum of modern art. Admission to the Walker is $12, but you can wander the sculpture garden and see the iconic cherry and spoon sculpture for free!
St. Anthony Main
A scenic riverfront neighborhood of restaurants, cafes, and a movie theater.
City of Lakes
Minneapolis is known as the City of Lakes. Every Minneapolitan has walked or run around Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, or Lake Nokomis. We're partial to Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha, since we live just blocks from both. If you're looking for a scenic drive, follow the Grand Rounds!
Catholic Churches
St. Olaf Catholic Church is just four blocks from The Hotel Minneapolis, and two blocks from Hell's Kitchen, where you'll likely see the brides having brunch on Sunday morning. Mass times are 4pm on Saturday, or 8am, 10am, or noon on Sunday. Click here for walking directions.
Alternatively, the Basilica of St. Mary is a beautiful, huge landmark right in downtown Minneapolis. Mass times are 7:30am, 9:30am, and 11:30am. Click here for driving directions from the Hotel Minneapolis.
